The Stone Forest boasts a wealth of castles, palaces, and churches that bear witness to its rich history and cultural significance. Each site is worth a visit!
Burgruine Weißenstein
Waldershof
One of the most popular excursion destinations and at the same time the landmark of the Steinwald Nature Park is the Weißenstein Castle ruins, located at an altitude of 858 meters.
Waldeck Castle Ruins
Kemnath
A 641-meter-high basalt cone about five kilometers east of Kemnath made history. One of the oldest castles in the Upper Palatinate stood on its summit.
Burg Falkenberg
Waldeck near Kemnath
The first wild plant park in Germany (EWILPA) is located in Kemnath and includes a basalt cone with old trees, hedges and avenues.
Wallfahrtskirche Maria Hilf
Fuchsmühl
The Church of St. Mary Help of Christians is unmistakably built on top of Hahnenberg Hill. It is an imposing sight, built in the Baroque style. The church's two towers were originally considerably taller, but they suffered repeated damage, so they had to be reduced by one story. The church was consecrated in 1726 and has been known as a pilgrimage church ever since.
Wolframshof Castle
Kastl
Wolframshof Castle is a stately manor house in the Steinwald forest, which, with its idyllic location and historic charm, offers an impressive testimony to Franconian aristocratic culture.
