Let's go to the Czech Republic!

A trip to the neighbors

A few kilometers away, the neighboring Czech Republic greets its guests with magnificent buildings, a centuries-old cultural landscape, and the spa region of the spa triangle of Mariánské Lázně, Karlovy Vary, and Františkovy Lázně. The Golden City of Prague is a 200-km drive from the Stone Forest or a three-hour train ride from Cheb. The Czech Republic boasts affordable shopping, traditional Bohemian cuisine, good beer, and impressive cultural monuments. Visitors can even win a few euros for their vacation in one of the numerous casinos.

The Wallenstein Cycle Route offers endless cycling fun between Bavaria and the Czech town of Cheb/Eger. The southern route, along the former Waldsassen-Cheb railway line, practically reveals the locomotive tracks and also provides a perfect connection to neighboring Czechia and Cycle Route No. 6, which runs hundreds of kilometers along the Ohře River via the famous and beautiful town of Karlovy Vary. In Karlovy Vary, a detour to the schnapps museum, home to the famous Becherovka herbal liqueur, is worthwhile. Cyclists will automatically pause near Loket to catch a glimpse of the Romanesque castle. Dating back to the second half of the 12th century, it stands as an eye-catcher on a rock directly on the Ohře River.

Hikers also get their money's worth in Bohemia. For several years now, the Goldsteig long-distance hiking trail (from Marktredwitz to Passau) has had a parallel route through the Šumava National Park in the Czech Republic. 289 kilometers can be hiked across 13 border crossings.

Also visit the Stone Forest's partner region: the Konstantinsbad microregion, which consists of nine member municipalities: Bezdruzice, Cebiv, Cernosin, Horni Kozolupy, Kokasice, Konstantinsbad, Lestkov, Olbromov, and Zachlumi. Rich in forests and dotted with castles, ruins, towers, and lake landscapes, the microregion resembles the Stone Forest Nature Park and offers its guests pure nature.
