The Upper Palatinate Forest stretches along the Czech border from Bad Neualbenreuth to the Cham-Further Depression. From a tourism perspective, the area encompasses the three districts of Tirschenreuth, Neustadt ad Waldnaab, and Schwandorf, as well as the independent city of Weiden and the town of Marktredwitz. Thus, the Upper Palatinate Forest encompasses the following areas:

The Upper Palatinate Cycling World
Through six adventure worlds right across the Upper Palatinate Forest.
The Upper Palatinate Cycling World is the new, extended cycling circuit through the Upper Palatinate Forest! The area encompasses the districts of Tirschenreuth, Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Schwandorf, and the independent city of Weiden in der Oberpfalz. The 500-kilometer main route traverses the entire holiday region. The trail consists of a total of six themed worlds, ranging in length from 85 to 155 kilometers. Of these, the adventure worlds "Forest and Valleys," "Zoigl and Fish," and "Volcanoes and Geological History" lead through the Steinwald region. Breathtaking views, hidden corners, and cyclist-friendly hosts await you!

The nature navigation system on the Goldsteig
Since summer 2019, 100 information points have been located at selected natural highlights along the Goldsteig Trail in the Upper Palatinate Forest. The goal is to highlight natural treasures steeped in history, those that are easily overlooked along the trail or only become apparent upon closer inspection. At these points, interested visitors will be able to access background information on their smartphones using a QR code.
