Climbing in nature
Climbing on our natural granite rocks is particularly exciting. Even beginners can include this experience in their vacation plans, as climbing is possible under supervision and guidance. The German Alpine Association can provide you with all the information you need about the rocks in the Steinwald Forest and how to get there. In addition, tour guide Isabella Bärmoser-Alker offers many exciting activities on and around the rocks upon request.
Climbing on existing routes (corresponds to Zone 2) is permitted on:
- Bird Rock
- Robber Rock
- Council Rock
- Y-crack massive
- Waldkopf
- Augsburg Rocks
- Neuhaus Castle Rock (near Windischeschenbach)

Indoor climbing
The climbing wall in Friedenfels, 7 meters high and 10 meters wide, with a large roof, is ideal for practicing. With eight anchor hooks and difficulty levels ranging from 3 to 9, there are plenty of climbing routes available for beginners and sport climbers alike. You can obtain a climbing certificate from the German Alpine Association (DAV) and take climbing courses at the Friedenfels climbing hall.

Introductory climbing in the Steinwaldhalle Friedenfels
Move with experience!
Try climbing for the first time on the Steinwaldhalle's indoor climbing wall and experience it as a truly unique experience. Or refresh your previous experience. Adventure educator and climbing instructor Isabella Bärmosser-Alker will be on hand to offer advice and professional support. The selection of climbing routes is diverse, and climbers can climb at varying levels of difficulty.
Important: This is not a 1.5-hour course that will teach you how to climb independently! If you're interested, just contact Isabella.
