Projects of the Steinwald Eco-Model Region
Since fall 2014, the Steinwald Alliance, a recognized organic model region, has been working intensively on the Bavarian state government's holistic approach to promoting organic farming in Bavaria. The association receives support from the Upper Palatinate Office for Rural Development.Following the motto "From the region - for the region," the organic model region enables the Steinwald Alliance and its member communities to make further efforts, as well as advocacy and networking efforts, for organic farming – for an intact, touristically attractive natural environment, for healthy food, and for local jobs. This is a development in the spirit of sustainability.
Experienced staff develop goals and projects that are precisely tailored to the Steinwald organic model region. Working groups with farmers and marketers, organic cooking courses for the interested public, and the innovative development of new organic products, such as the organic beef burger, are just a few examples. Conventional farmers interested in converting to organic farming, as well as organic farmers with questions, can seek assistance.

Organic cooking classes in the Steinwald
In the cooking classes of the Steinwald Eco-Model Region, culinary delicacies are prepared using organically produced foods. Experienced instructors provide participants with tips for home cooking and background knowledge on all aspects of organic farming. Embark on a culinary organic discovery tour in the Steinwald Forest, because the organic cooking classes of the Steinwald Eco-Model Region are packed with organic ingredients, flavor, and creativity.

Organic direct marketers
Organic shopping in Steinwald
Simply delicious when you know where the food you eat comes from! In the Steinwald eco-model region, there are now more than 20 direct marketers and health food stores. There, you can buy vegetables and fruit, bread and baked goods, meat and sausage, spices and oils, or eggs and spirits to your heart's content.
