Experience the 24-hour Steinwald stands for an adventurous weekend with lots of exercise in nature. Various tour guides lead you on foot or by bike to the loveliest corners of the Steinwald and tell you about hidden treasures and geological features. You can organize your own eventful hours in the Steinwald according to your personal taste and get to know the multifaceted nature of the second smallest nature park in Bavaria.

Bio moves - hike through the Steinwald eco-model region(8 kilometers)

The Steinwald eco-model region, together with the Tirschenreuth adult education center, invites you to take a hike in the Steinwald. Discover selected organically certified companies in the heart of the eco-model region together with the project managers Günther Erhardt and Eva Gibhardt.

The tour begins at the organically certified castle brewery in Reuth. From there it goes to Eiglasdorf to the organic dairy farm of the Zahn family, with around 70 dairy cows. A milking robot works in the barn and the organic milk is processed directly in the farm's own dairy.

The hike continues through Premenreuth to Forsthof to Jürgen Streubel, the organic berry pioneer in the Steinwald. He guides through his fields where he grows blueberries, strawberries and goji berries and shares his experiences of growing and marketing the berries. Afterwards it goes back to Reuth.

The tour is also suitable for families and runs mainly on very well-developed paths. The event takes place in any weather. Please note that the adult education center accepts no liability for damage to the equipment or in the event of accidents.

The Steinwald is a little piece of its own in the large geological puzzle of the GEOPARK Bayern-Böhmen. It is itself as diverse with its rocks and geological history as the entire work. On a trip around the Steinwald and on the well-developed Steinwald cycle path, the various facets of the earth's history and parts of the landscape are explained.

The Geotour along the border creek in the southern Steinwald takes you and your companions on scenic and geologically varied paths to a fabulous natural monument, to different rocks and to old cultivated plants. One of the highlights is a visit to the new freshwater mussel breeding station at the Grenzmühle with information point for the nature park and geopark.

Herb hike through the edible wild plant park (6 km)

The herb hike leads on a circular route through the "Edible Wild Plant Park" (EWILPA) around the Schlossberg Waldeck. Existing and newly created wild hedges, trees and wild herbs that thrive in sunny and shady places alternate. Much worth knowing about wild herbs and fruits is conveyed and the basic idea of EWILPA is also explained. The current hygiene regulations apply.

"The early morning catches the worm!" Are you a passionate hobby photographer and have a special soft spot for nature? In the early hours of the morning, Michael Schneider takes you to the most beautiful viewing platforms in the Steinwald, the Upper Palatinate Tower and the ruins of Weißenstein Castle. Experience the sunrise from there with a view into the distance across the Steinwald Nature Park to the adjacent low mountain ranges and capture this moment with your camera. Even morning grouches are encouraged to take part in this unique spectacle!

As a little icing on the cake, we will serve you breakfast after sunrise against the backdrop of the Weißenstein castle ruins (for a fee).

Wolfgang Schödel, a forest ranger in the Steinwald, leads a circular hike to fabulous rock formations and various moor landscapes in the west of the Steinwald Nature Park. The hike from the Waldhaus to the Grandfelsen takes you through the rough high-altitude forests of the Steinwald. The route crosses the Hahnenfalzmoor. Here you will learn interesting facts about bogs and their properties.

Recently, Erbendorf has one more attraction: the new “Flight-Expulsion-Arrival” museum has opened in the former “Nagelschmiedhaus”. The documentation center focuses on the 1920s until after the end of the Second World War. Museum director Jochen Neumann guides through the permanent exhibition, which focuses on the flight and expulsion from the former German territories and integration in the new homeland in the Steinwald. The focus is on the personal stories of some people.

Species protection in the stone forest - freshwater pearl mussel, garden dormouse and Co.

From the freshwater pearl mussel to the garden dormouse, there are many exciting species support projects in the nature park area.Starting at the Grenzmühle information point, with a focus on freshwater pearl mussels, a small tour through nature will take place, during which the nature park ranger Cornelia Greiner will provide insights into some of these projects and classify the ecological value of these species.

Föhrenbühl, which is one of the "100 most beautiful geotopes in Bavaria", forms a rock formation reminiscent of a dragon's dorsal crest. In fact, his rocks also come from the glowing hot depths of the earth's mantle. On a geo-hike with geopark ranger Michaela Griener, you can find out how they got to their current idyllic location and which vegetation has adapted to the exotic rocks.
